The Douro, savouring the very best of life.

The Douro, savouring the very best of life.

"Among friends — that is how it all began and how we wish it to continue, expanding the concept of friendship beyond borders."
Teresa Barbosa

Between toasts and gatherings, at the enchanting estate of friends in the Douro, the opportunity arose to acquire a piece of land in Aramalto. An idyllic place, with breathtaking scenery, surrounded by old vineyards, century-old olive trees, and a stunning view over the Douro River. This very land gave rise to the Terroir Aramalto brand, with the purpose of elevating the potential of this terroir, so that it could be shared with the world.

Terroir Aramalto holds deep meaning.

terroir

“Terroir” means land, but it represents much more than that. It is the essence of wine and olive oil — a balance between soil, climate, and the passion of those who care for the vineyard and olive groves.

A trilogy that, for Terroir Aramalto, takes on new meaning and is built upon three essential pillars:

Taste

The flavour born from the land, where grapes grow into exceptional wine and incomparable olive oil.

Experience

The ideal place to live exclusive experiences.

Stay

A unique space where one truly wishes to be.

These are the three areas explored by this project: the production of wine and olive oil, authentic and unforgettable experiences, and the hospitality of a luxury home.

But nothing is by chance. Terroir is a name that carries, within its consonants, the sound of Teresa and Rui, the owners and mentors behind this remarkable project. Together, they share not only the land, but also another perfect trilogy: their three children.

Teresa Barbosa, a pleasure to meet you.

Teresa is the calm and smiling face of this brand, always supported unconditionally by her husband, Rui. Both are Civil Engineers, yet a passion and curiosity for the authenticity of wine have always been present in their lives.

Teresa Barbosa, a pleasure to meet you.

In 2022, Teresa stepped away from engineering to launch her most ambitious project, investing in extensive education and training. She completed the Wine Business Management Programme at Porto Business School, achieved the WSET Level 2 qualification (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) at Direct Wine, and undertook training at Agro B Business School EV, including Vineyard Cultivation and Winemaking, as well as the Portuguese Wines Course by Raul Riba D’Ave at A Origem – Escola de vinhos. In addition, she has participated in numerous tastings alongside world-renowned wine experts.
